Nothing says true love quite like “I’ll marry you in the middle of a hot August day in Texas”. Despite the sweltering heat, I actually felt the most warmth from Autumn, David, and their friends and family as they came together to celebrate their union.
One of the coolest places just outside of Austin to hold a small wedding ceremony / elope is Chapel Dulcinea.
Why? Well, for one, it’s perched up on a hill with sweeping 360 views of the Texas Hill Country. It’s also close to the world famous Salt Lick Barbecue and Trattoria Lisina. But the coolest part about this venue, is that it’s FREE.
Well, it’s free on weekdays (Mon-Thur). But even if your wedding falls on a weekend (Fri-Sun), the total cost you’ll pay for the venue is only $240. Not too shabby for a wedding venue.
The original plan for Autumn + David was to get ready at a beautiful airbnb about 20 minutes from the venue, but upon arrival the day before their wedding – they were shocked to find that their airbnb was infested with spiders. Yikes.
Even though things didn’t go exactly according to plan, that didn’t get them down. They found a last minute booking at a hotel down the road, and got ready for their big day there, together.
We headed to the chapel to get them into their wedding gear, and more importantly – to get them married.
This sweet moment is one of my favorites from the entire day. Autumn’s mother and sister helped her get ready, and as soon as they finished securing her veil onto her head, they both instantly burst into tears. I was trying hard not to cry behind my camera!!!
If you aren’t interested in doing a first look, I highly recommend a first touch instead. This is a great opportunity to hear your fiance’s voice and exchange private vows (if that’s something you want to do). If you cry, I got you with the tissues.
Their ceremony took place at two in the afternoon, under the heat and light of the Texas Sun (queue Texas Sun by Leon Bridges). The great part about it was that my tears were undetectable. I was just sweating from my eyes because it was so hot. 😉
A short but sweet ceremony it was. They shared their first kiss as husband and wife, and announced it to the whole world by ringing the wedding bells.
Their reception took place at Trattoria Lisina, about a ten minute drive down the windy hill country roads. I’ve shot a few wedding receptions here now and their food and service is always SO freakin’ good.
After a laid back reception and some cake cutting, we ended Autumn + David’s wedding in a nearby field at sunset.
An incredible, sun soaked, love filled day celebrating Autumn and David. I am always so grateful to those who trust me to document the biggest day of their lives. This was a good one.
