This Oyster Bay Yacht Club wedding was one for the books. Nestled in the marshy flatlands of Fernandina Beach, Florida lies Oyster Bay Yacht Club—an all inclusive wedding venue with sweeping views of the St. Mary’s river and canopied oak trees dripping in Spanish Moss. It boasts a magic like no other, and was the perfect setting for Daphne + Peter’s moody and romantic wedding day.

Oyster Bay Yacht Club Wedding
Humidity hung heavy in the Florida September air, clouds blanketed the sky and the salty smell of the sea was ever present. Daphne was spending time with her girls and getting the tail end of her makeup done as I opened the door to the bridal suite at Oyster Bay Yacht Club. The sun made faint appearances through the large windows that lined the room.
As always, I began with their detail photos. Their details were simple and elegant––white invitations with dainty blue floral patterns along the margins and a few other accents. Daphne’s “something blue” ended up being her bridal shoes, sling back kitten heels with mesh toes, adorned with blue embellishments. It definitely fit the theme for Oyster Bay Yacht Club Wedding, elements of the sea tied in with their personal moody style.
I always find it particularly special when the bride decides to have one of her loved ones help with their hair or makeup, and that’s exactly what Daphne decided to do. She had her grandmother do her hair––an extra sentimental touch to her time spent getting ready for her wedding.
Before Peter arrived, Daphne and her bridesmaids followed me out into the grassy courtyard of Oyster Bay Yacht Club to take a few portraits together in their getting ready attire. Daphne got her bridesmaids oversized men’s button down shirts with their names embroidered on the sleeve, a personal touch that added so much. We took a few photos of them doing a champagne cheers to usher in this new season of life for Daphne and Peter.
Peter made his arrival to Oyster Bay Yacht Club shortly after, dressed and ready for a few solo portraits of himself before him and Daphne shared their first look together.
Daphne’s mother helped her into her dress, an emotional part of the day for any mother! The clouds outside were beginning to dissipate, the sunlight streamed through the windows and illuminated Daphne in the most ethereal way. Her, her dress, and her veil were simply glowing.
It was finally time for Daphne & Peter to share their first look. We found the perfect spot at their ceremony space, placed Peter, and ushered Daphne gently to see her future husband for the first time. Their first look was magical, the sun came out for them as they exchanged their vows privately with each other. During their vow exchange, a rabbit jumped out of the brush behind them and made a quick appearance before darting into a neighboring bush. It made the moment all the more magical, and felt like a sign of good luck. Their reactions were priceless!
After we took full bridal party photos, it was finally time for their ceremony. Guests began to arrive at Oyster Bay Yacht Club via trolley service. They poured out in troves, making their way toward the ceremony space in their best suits and dresses. The excited energy was palpable.
The clouds had completely faded, flooding the ceremony space with a beautiful, crisp sunlight. Just in time. Their ceremony at Oyster Bay Yacht Club was short and sweet, bathed in the golden glow of the evening September sun. Their guests enjoyed cocktail hour by the pool while we spent some time together taking their newlywed portraits. It’s like the sun was out just for us!
The rest of the evening was filled with tearful, heartfelt speeches from their loved ones, a delicious dinner that was made in-house at Oyster Bay Yacht Club, and a few sunset portraits on the dock. It was such a perfect evening, and I could tell Daphne and Peter felt all the love.
Their dance floor was nothing short of energetic. Peter busted out some crazy moves with his drink between his teeth. It was truly a standout moment from the night, and something I’ll personally never forget.
This Oyster Bay Yacht Club wedding was a day to remember. The venue itself is magic, and Daphne and Peter’s wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Here’s to the Mavroses!
