Intimate Backyard St. Augustine Wedding

On a humid, early November day, I pulled into the driveway of Caroline & Taylor’s wedding–the ocean across the street filled the air with the familiar, comforting scent of the sea. I walked through the front door to find their families scattered about, chatting, laughing, and helping with some finishing touches before guests began to arrive.
I found Caroline in her designated bridal suite, laughter and chatter echoing from the ensuite bathroom, her best friend curling her hair as they stood together in front of the mirror. The excitement in the room was electric.
The details and set up for this intimate backyard St. Augustine wedding were nothing short of fabulous. Beautiful wooden chairs adorned with pink satin bows, tablescapes designed for gathering and centering the bride & groom, and a sweet brown and white checkered dance floor to tie it all together. The ceremony space backed up to the Tolomato river, and was painted in the most gorgeous golden light.
Shadows grew long across the lawn as cherished guests began to arrive. Caroline’s excitement was palpable as she glanced out the window facing the ceremony space, watching everyone gather.
Before she knew it, it was time to walk down the aisle. With the sun at it’s most perfect angle, guests took their seats as the ceremony began. Taylor stands excitedly at the altar, watching his beautiful bride being escorted down the aisle by her father. They shared an incredibly emotional and beautiful embrace before they took their places together, hand in hand, in front of all their guests. A truly intimate affair, this intimate backyard St. Augustine wedding was proving to be a day to remember.
A ceremony that was short, sweet, and sunkissed—their devotion to each other so apparent not only through their vows, but through their gazes of adoration for one another. Signed, sealed, delivered. (Funny enough, that was their processional song that played as they walked down the aisle together as husband and wife).
We ran around the front lawn of their venue together, capturing the first hours of their marriage on digital and film. Towering pink flowers and the crisp golden light illuminated their love story. It was truly the perfect background for this intimate backyard St. Augustine wedding.
Caroline & Taylor joined their cocktail hour as twilight dawned on the horizon. The blue sky caught fire, turning shades of orange and pink before fading into midnight blue.
Tiki torches were lit around their reception area as toasts began. Heartfelt words from the people that mean the most, and misty eyes that slowly turned into overflowing pools.
The dance floor opened after the bride and groom shared their dances with their parents, and this one got wild in the best way!! Drinks were flowing, Caroline was given her comfy shoes, a party fowl or two may have occurred, and an iconic game of Limbo unfolded on the dance floor.
And what better way to end a wedding day than a jump in the pool? There’s not much that can compare, and before we knew it, this intimate backyard St. Augustine wedding had come to a close.
