Meet Daphne + Peter.

The best way to describe spending time with these two is like meeting up with an old friend. There was an instantaneous ease meeting them in person for the first time, and it quickly settled into what felt like a connection I’ve had for years.

We met up outside of The Florida Theatre to start their engagement session. The idea was to do a little walking tour of downtown before heading to Dos Gatos for the second part of their session.

“We like the idea of pictures in a bar — something dark and moody, yet casual and fun!”

Say no more.

What was your first impression of the other person?

Daphne: I thought he was funny and a bit of a flirt.

Peter: I thought she was pretty reserved and kept to a smaller group of friends

Their wedding, taking place in September 2025, will be vintage // old Hollywood // Lana Del Rey inspired – so we really wanted to emulate that style in their engagement photos. What better way than outside of an old time theater?

We continued our journey around downtown Jacksonville across the street at the Yates building. A beautiful display of architecture complete with a mosaic tiled fountain and tall palm trees, this was the perfect spot to encapsulate their vision.

What has the best part of wedding planning been for you two?

Our wedding venue, Oyster Bay Yacht Club, has been incredible. They took all the stress off our shoulders. They’ve probably helped us plan 80% of our wedding, they include everything except a photographer, florals, and DJ.

If you had to pick one thing you love most about the other person, what would that be?

Daphne: I love the way he thinks and his altruistic approach on things.

Peter: I love how strong-willed she is, and how she has a sense of authenticity when meeting people.

We finally made it to the spot we’d been waiting for since their session began, Dos Gatos.

Pro tip: If you’re considering taking your photos in a bar, have your session fall on a weekday. It’s guaranteed to be less busy and more of an intimate experience for you and your partner. (Also, call ahead to make sure it’s okay to shoot there. They appreciate the notice!)
