Sunrise Surf Session | Amelia Island, Florida

Something about watching the sunrise on the beach sets my heart ablaze. The salty sea air, the sound of crashing waves, the silhouette of the tall grass from the sand dunes on the horizon line, the sun slowly painting the sky in a million different colors. It’s pretty hard to go wrong with a sunrise session. Oh, and we brought surfboards, because why wouldn’t we??

Meet Kelly and Cameron. I drove to Amelia Island from Jacksonville on a steamy July morning and met them at Beach Access 31, it had the view of the pier. This was our first time meeting in person, and minus the sleepiness, we were so excited to get started. What better way than to dip your feet in the water?

I’m from Texas, and since this was my first beach session as a Florida resident, I was a little nervous. BUT, something the beach has always made me feel is sheer freedom. My only prompt for them was to run free, spin around, and enjoy each other’s company. (I think it worked out pretty well.) <3

We were so anxious to breakout the surfboards. I’ve only ever surfed once in the eighth grade – safe to say it did not end well for me, so I’m happy to just be on the sidelines now.

It couldn’t have been more of a perfect morning. The colors in the sky and the love between these two was the cherry on top.

The sun finally scraped over the horizon, revealing the most beautiful golden rays and the official start to a new day. After we had some fun in the sand, it was time to jump in the water and get some surfing in. (kind of)

There’s no better way to end a session than with a little romance, so I had my lovely couple cozy up together on the shoreline and share some kisses before wrapping the shoot.

There’s truly nothing better than getting to spend time with your partner, however it may be. I love these kinds of photo sessions because they are filled with so much love, adventure, and laughter. Being behind the camera and getting to witness to these connections is the joy of my life.

Bottom line, when in doubt, break out surfboards. Until next time, friends. <3
